Random 2008 thoughts:

2008

December:
Bill Murray in Scrooged.  A miracle, once a year...reaching for something more positive and less schmuckish, that's us. So, how're we doin'?  I'm afraid to look at the scorecard.

November:
My take on things:
One age in the middle of the fight, two dead countries flexed their might.  They turned their backs and faced each other, then drew lots and killed each other.  A def police-god heard the noise, then came and saved the humans from their toys.  If you don't believe this lie is true, ask the blind sage; he saw it, too.
Just about the election?  Or about the Congo and lack of help?  Everything, man.  Everything.

October:
A few days yet remain in September; about to watch Sinbad the Sailor (Sinbad's 7th Voyage, 1958); peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches still taste good; perceived injustices remain perceived; having a cold is detrimental to a writer; butterflies keep popping up; and of other bothers, academic and otherwise?  Romeo's words on Rosaline, paraphrased,  will suffice: "I have forgot those names, and those names' woes."

September:
Life yet remains more bizarre than all the fiction I create.  The choices are myriad and inexplicably--  Well, we've been here before, haven't we?  This fantastic voyage...of the damned.

August:
Choosing the path between darkness and light; as the girls of indigo say, "...the darkness has a hunger that's insatiable, and the lightness has a call that's hard to hear..."  Perhaps the less we seek our source, the truly closer to fine we will be.

July:
How can I put in just a few words what should be hours of back-and-forth conversation?  That's the way to get inside one's head, the way to get to know someone.  Right now?  This moment?  Green reminds me of the Incredible Hulk.  From there, my thoughts fly to connections between the hulk and the Almavore and the "beast within."  Outside, thunder but no rain.  Should've just stuck with stream of consciousness iambic pentameter...

May:
Old tale <<Soul gets released from the body and someone (Shiva?) says, go back, git yerself in another  body and the soul says, hell no I won't, too much suffering and pain as an organic, and Shiva says do it and the soul says, hell no way, bitch, so Shiva gets out a flute and starts playing and the soul hears that funky music and wants to dance but can't and is goin' crazy for  wanting to dance so much so it jumps down into a body and starts dancin' like "ay ay ay" and Shiva says, "Now who's the biyatch, biyatch?">> Well, that's the version and my variance on it : )  Miss you, Dr. Barry  Ward~

April:
"Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them. "
-
Henry David Thoreau The writer writes (until the super suit gets back from the cleaners).  Well, with luck the song might come up before I push up daisies.

March:
It is my fervent hope that, regardless of the political results this year, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John McCain and Mike Huckabee might still be able to sit down together for an enjoyable game of Dungeons and Dragons.  I wonder what characters they would choose?

February:
presidential bids, mud cookies, recession, apathy in the classrooms...Christopher Columbus' Tainos, now extinct (through butchery and suicide)...their land now called Haiti...a hot spot, foretelling Idaho, Dover, Sydney, Cyprus, Pusan, etc...our future awaits, belly up to the bar for some--what? Mud rum?  Or red rum?

January:
Dream a little dream for me.  What are my thoughts?  In this modern age, it's whatever I can cut/copy/paste.  It seems no one has heard of plagiarism; it's disgusting to see the little pigmen riding atop the backs of so many...disgusting.   Comeuppance, that's what's on my mind.  Happy New Year.
