| ALMA- fem. proper name, from L. Alma "nourishing," fem. of almus, from alere "to nourish." VORE (voracious)- from L. vorare "to devour." Almavore- (Blackwood, circa 20th century) that which sucks/eats/nourishes itself on the energy of others; literally to devour what nourishes; to eliminate that which replenishes. I see a direct connection between almavores and what Hartmann describes as the "Younger Culture"; in short, that which consumes, dominates and overpopulates. Almavore- aka soul eater, the Dis-ease, the Young Ones, the Deceiver, Wastelander |
| Just as myth is a kind of dream which the collective unconsciousness of society is having, so also our dreams can be seen as a kind of personal myth... -paraphrased from Joseph Campbell "It is often forgotten that (dictionaries) are artificial repositories, put together well after the languages they define. The roots of language are irrational and of a magical nature." -Jorge Luis Borges, Prologue to "El otro, el mismo." "The definition found in the 'Han-com Sajun' , while a good effort (given what knowledge the writers had to work with) and a good starting point, is inaccurate to fully encompass the subject we have at hand; therefore, I propose a term I myself coined in 1995, the term of 'Almavore.' I have hitherto used this to describe merely creatures of fantasy, but will now use it to describe that which I have come to comprehend as concrete reality." -passage from Blackwood's diary |
