437 Angels brought down to Earth
AP, thru CNN.com / posted April 25, 2008
There's this polygamy Christian church break-up thing happening; just Google it or whatever if you're unfamiliar with the details.  Point is 437 children were taken from their mothers and forced into foster homes.

The solution for the almavore is assimilation.  In this young culture, that's what you get.

Note some key "problems" these children face upon entering almavore society:

"Many of the children have seen little or no television. They have been essentially home-schooled all their lives. Most were raised on garden-grown vegetables and twice-daily prayers with family. They frolic in long dresses and buttoned-up shirts from another century. They are unfailingly polite."

"(They) wear pioneer-style dress and keep their hair pinned up in braids, reflecting their standards of modesty. For the same reason, they have little knowledge of pop culture. They pray twice a day. They tend vegetable gardens and raise dairy cows, and eat fresh food. And they are exceedingly polite, always saying 'please' and 'thank you.' "

"In contrast, many other children (in almavore culture) have a certain worldly swagger, and ... have used drugs or committed other crimes."

"They don't eat a lot of processed food and we're not going to encourage that," Pulliam said, but noted that if the children want to eat processed or junk food, no one is going to stop them.
Great, they go from a healthy diet and no TV to processed foods and processed junk-programs.  And another problem? "...they want to go home, and they want to go to people and circumstances they're used to."

The final kicker for me?  "The children have been educated in a schoolhouse on the compound using a home-school curriculum and may be ahead of public-school students their ages."   Now what the hell does that tell you about the importance that almavores place on education?  They like us dumbed down.  Keep them stupid and weak and malnurished; they can't possible think for themselves or change their fate.

Welcome to hell, children.  They'll soon be running around in tank tops and shorts, smoking and drinking and getting pregnant (recall it is the sex thing that motivated their removal to begin with).  If anyone would take the time and care to follow their progress, I wonder what we would discover.
